Seed Heads – Series No. 1

Originally sold as grass growing heads and packaged with grass seed, not chia seed. Seed Heads, Grass Heads or Chia Heads date from the early 1900s. They were sold as inexpensive novelties. This typology is a layering of 20 different “Hi Buddy” heads. They were based on the overly energetic service station attendant that pumped gas in postwar America. We love the optimism.

Seed Heads – Series No. 2

Starting in 1933, seed heads popularity swept the United States during the Great Depression because they were so affordable. These similar, yet subtly different heads put a smile on our faces.
